I have a split database but it does not run like most. I do not have a front end on the users pc and a backend on a server. The users of this data base do not have server access while working at customer sites. So they send out files that get imported into the master database that remains updated. When they get their update they have the most updated data set at the time of the update. This works well on the user side. My question is if I'm creating or adding on to the program new table or fields how do I keep the data updated to the most recent?

Hi Jon123

Is this database updated by the users using a 'briefcase'?

I mean you can have some users that have a current copy of the front end to use for entering data & after use , have it synchronised to the back end to update the tables.

Where exactly is the back end kept?

Without knowing more, I would suggest that you update the back end as you need & your users take an updated copy with them each time they need to use it & then resynchronise as neccesary.

Is this what you were after??

You might find it useful to look into Replication.
