Unable to create replicate

I'm trying to create replicates of an access 97 database. When I click replicate I get an error message that says "Mocrosoft acess can't convert the database to a design master" due to one fof the system tables created by the replicate action.

I've tried the sample code from microsoft to make the database and objects replicatable but have not had any luck.

Any insight as to why this is happening?

Replication....yuck.

Is there a reason you are replicating the database? Are users going to be traveling with a copy of the database, or are outside sources going to be adding and changing data that will need to be Synchronized later? The reason I ask is that I am wondering it a split database might be a better way to go if the above are not the prominent reason for the Replication.

You are correct.

My sales reps will be traveling with this application which is a central database for my internal users. They want to be able to enter comments about projects they have followed up on wile disconnected from our network, then sync with the mothership to swap updates. Is that enough background info? I don't want to ramble if you follow what I'm doing.

This just puzzles me that access can't perform the replication due to the ... replication?

I've tried this on two different machines both running A97. I'll try it on my home machine tonight which is running A2K and see if it is the "nut behind the screen" causing the problem.

All the documentation I've read makes this sound so simple to do that they don't address trouble shooting.

Any ideas?

I just typed:

"can't convert the database to a design master" into the knowledge search database and selected Access...
