Is it possible to attach a calendar to a unbound text box, like there is for a bound text box, where when you click on the textbox a calendar will pop up?? Seems like there should be...

I also created a new pop up form with just the ActiveX calendar object on it but can't get the "On Update" to fire when the date is changed..

Any thoughts on either?? Thanks

How do you guys address this problem.... There's no room to keep the calendar on the form at all forms. Anyway to create the activeX calendar object on the fly when you enter into a textbox?? And then once changed/updated the calendar will be deleted/closed/invisible??

1. Make it visible on the Got Focus event of the textbox
2. Check if the value in the textbox is a valid date (using the IsDate() function), if it is, set the calendar control to that date, if it isn't set it to today's date.
3. Make it invisible on the Mouse Move event of the Detail section of the form.

That would be a way to do it, but there's no physical room for it on my form, visible or not. That's why I need some sort of pop-up.

You have way too much going on on your form in that case. Remember, it doesn't have to be the exact size. You can always increase its Height and Width in code.

No, it's just the textbox is in the header, which has a small height, and adding the calendar would expand the area, which I don't want.

Put the calendar control in the Detail section, just below the text box. Then you would need to make it hidden in the Mouse Move events of both the Detail and Header sections.

If you are talking Access 2007 or 2010 - then all you have to do is set the FORMAT to short date on for the unbound text box and the calendar will show up like it does for bound date text boxes.

Ah, yes Bob. I've thought I've tried that before and but it wouldn't let meformat an unbound textbox.... Oh well. Thanks.

Well, that's strange because I just did it using 2007 SP2.

It doesn't like Input Masks. So if you have that set it wouldn't show.

Glad we could help!

Maybe Bob will display one of his "congratulations" images? :D

Well, I kind of made that one on Corel Draw x3 using the face (clipart) from the program.
