Hi there,

I need some help with Access databas. I am using Windows Vista with service pack 1 and MS Office 2010 on my Laptop.

Couple of weeks ago I started having problem with my registry and I lost access to my hard drive. I had to restore my laptop to Factory Settings. Unfortunatally I lost my customer card database.

I managed to restore it using Data Recovery Wizard. Unfortunatally I tried to open it but getting "Unrecognized database format" error msg.

Can you help me pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Hi RainLover,

Yes I have a backup, which is 6 months old. It is working fine. I have tried to import data from recovered database, but I am getting same message "Unrecognized database format". It has accdb extension.

I am having similar sort of problem with recovered word and excel documents. I can open them, but they have junk characters.

I hope you can help me.

Thank you.

Virus Check NOW just in case.

Backup everything on your Drive, just in case.

Uninstall Office.

Reinstall Office.

Check to see if the database will open on Vista machine.

Now check to see if the database will open on another machine.

Join a Religious Order and pray like Hell.

Write down 100 times I must do regular back ups.

Give me more information.

What do you mean Recovered Database.

Can you import just one Table into a new database. Does it work OK.

If this works can you import another Table then another etc.

Is it the Tables causing the problem or is it the Forms, Reports code etc.

Is the Database split.

I can open any other database, but my customer card database not opening. I can't import any table from it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office, but still no luck.

So the tables are in this Database. Not just a link to a Back End.

And you can't open any Table at all.

Can you do anything.

Things are not looking good for you at the moment. Sorry to say.

But don't give in just yet. Tell me what you can.
