Updating many records

I have a series of records approx 120,000 that contain personal information on individuals. I am trying to export this list to a new table that has a series of pre-defined constraints on the fields. Some of the data I am trying to export contains invalid values i.e. not the correct data type. Typically the values contain ' .Mr D Brown'. I would like to rid the table of the spaces and the . but am unsure about how to go about doing this. Would I use one of the trim funcrtions????

Trim gets rid of the leading and trailing spaces...

The leading point is another matter, try searching the forum for 'Hard trim' See if that gives you any ideas....
