We recently upgraded from A97 to A2003. We often use the FIND function (ctrl-F) on an open form to search for a particular record. Sometimes there are more than one record that meets a particular criteria (like a customer number). In A97, using the NEXT button would bring up the records one after another by multiple presses of the NEXT button. In A2003, using the NEXT button (when multiple records are known to be present), returns no matches except for the first record. The only way to display the additional records are to X out of the FIND input box, reopen it and then do a FIND again (and again and again). Is this a oddity of A2003 or...? Thanks Peter

I know......this program was designed a while ago by someone who's long gone. The people using the program are well.....kind of set in their ways. I'm just trying to keep things as they were.....for now. Thanks

What about F3 ?

F3?? Please explain.....doesn't seem to do anything on a form.

We'll normally in a program, ctrl+f starts the search, and then f3 continues looking for that "word" you entered when you started with ctrl+f

Try using a Filter

If you filter the Data instead of finding the next button should move you between like records. It works for me I have a Employee Database and 3 employees with the same last name.

hope this helps

Thanks to all who took the time to help! I finally figured it out. The previous designer had put this line of code *DoCmd.GoToControl "dispatchnumber"* in the CURRENT code field behind the form. While it didn't seem to "focus" in this field......it must have returned the focus there every time we ran a new search. So the FIND would only bring up the first record (until, of course, we exited FIND). Removing the line returned things to normal. A97 didn't seem to have a problem with this but who can argue with "progress"!
