Using IIF & Like statements in query

Maybe I should just delete all the documentation in my existing code and quit now :D

Regardless, I can certainly understand trying new ways to do something. Being self taught I spend quite a bit of time finding out the best way to do things. :)

Someone mention big pay cheques? How do I get one of them? :)

Should really put some of my knowledge to good use and find a proper job! Any ideas anyone? :D

You can find one of those in your nearest bank. Extreme measures to get it cleared might be required though ;)

My only real suggestion would be to try to learn multiple database platforms (i.e. SQL server, Oracle, etc) as well as Access.

All companies need to store data, the more platforms you know the more companies woule find you useful.

You can't learn them all though. It's one or the other and it depends on whether you want to be a developer or an administrator.

If Developer Then = Just know about the syntax differences, performance and optimisation.
ElseIf Administrator = Stick to one platform and know it well.

You will find that bigger businesses that are Unix based use Oracle dbs whilst others use SQL Server.

How I wish I had a single role. :)

Due to a series of mergers giving me a selection of legacy data sources I have access to a few data warehouses, Oracle databases, SQL servers, Access 97 databases, Access 2003 databases, Acces 2007 databases, and various other data sources which I shouldn't mention (including VBA-based automation of non-database software).

I'm sure you're having fun ;)

Glad it's not only me that uses the if, elseif, then in standard conversation. Think this is a sign of being overworked!

I only did it because this is a technical forum :) I seldom do it anyway ;)

As this topic is going off subject anyway. I've looked recently at the Elance website. Seems to be quite a lot of work for Access Programmers. Do you have any experience of the site, either personally or through 3rd parties?

Would be interested in some suggestions!

Nope, never heard of it.

This topic would be best suited in the WaterCooler section. You may get more responses then.
