hi, im a student and we use microsoft access at school, we are currently running access 97 which I am using for part of my coursework, there is one problem, just recently something seems to have messed up and whenever i am inputing data to a form etc and i click a wizard made button to go to the next record, or back a record or in fact to do anything, an error comes up saying

File not found: VBA5.DLL
once you click ok, the whole database locks up and needs to be reopened to allow further work.
we have checked all the files on the main server and no trace of this file can be found, nothing has been updated so far as i know, and the head of it cant figure it out,
does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can fix this as it is preventing me from being able to do stuff i need to do for my coursework.
Thanks in advance
Peter

The only thing I can think of is that at some point a reference has been set up to the VBA5.DLL by another program or install. VBA5.DLL is not required by Access 97. The libraries required by Access 97 are
VBA332.dll (Builtin)
MSACC8.OLB (builtin)
DAO350.DLL (not Builtin)

In any module goto
Tools
References
Uncheck the reference to VBA5.DLL
Ensure the reference to VBA332.DLL is correct
Also check the other references are correct i.e for MSACC8.OLB and DAO350.DLL

VBA332.DLL can usualy be found on the following path
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\MICROSOFT SHARED\VBA\VBA332.DLL
If you are on a server, or cannot find the file, then you will need to do s FIND for the file and then ensure that your reference is pointing to the correct path and file.

TIP:
Some times you cannot read the full Path name of a referenced lib. In this case the following article shows a technique for overcoming this

How to loop through references to view their properties http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q186/3/05.asp
Hope this helps
