I'm puzzled by a problem displaying a UPC barcode font in a vertical textbox on a report. The font displays correctly on one machine running Access 2002 on Windows XP, but it only displays the text for the UPC code on another machine with Access 2002 and XP.

The UPC font displays just fine in a horizontal textbox.

Thanks for any ideas about this.

Arthur

Is the font installed on the other machine?

Yes. I've reinstalled the font and it still works only in horizontal textboxes.

Have you found a solution

I have a similar problem except with Arial font! I have a report with both horizontal and vertical labels. It was printing fine on all of our machines (All Win XP Pro) but now it wont print vertical labels on some machines - just leaves them blank.

From the reports design view if I change the font to San Serif I can see the vertical labels but any other font and it doesnt show up?

Very wierd

Microsoft Bug

I checked Microsofts web site and they have this problem listed there with no solution.

Article 839779: In Microsoft Office Access 2003 and in Microsoft Access 2002, you can set the Vertical property of a text box control to Yes in a report or in a form. When you do this, you may notice that the text that is in the text box control does not appear correctly.

The only solution appears to be to not use vertical text as there is no guarantee that it will print, at least until MS patches this problem.
