Hello Access gurus
I hope I am in the right place to start this off
I had D/b all set up but i need to have on my form a view of directory(s)

I have button that creates the folder (many thanks to the person whom gave me this )
but what i want to be able to do is preview this witihn my form

so on my form I want a box that will show what i have stored in this folder (which could be word or pdf or xls)
my button will create C:\temp\filing\ filenumber & filename ( about 20 chars)
so my form need to be able to preview all files within this folder ( I hope that I have at least half way explained what I am after
Access 2000 - and reasonable expereince (not brillaint at advance VB )

any thoughts regards

Hi

I made up a small sample for you that will recurse the directory(ies) depending on where you start the search from. ( see code )

The table tblFiles stores all the names & paths of the files. You can use the table as a record source for a listbox.

Give it a try as follows: from the debug window: Call dirTest()
and dont forget to set the references to DAO

great 4 options all of which are pretty damn good
their are 2 optiosn that I prefer now all I need to do is tweak either of them to look where i want- I 'll have fun trying this but many thanks in advance to ghudson and aslo to MSTcyr - I prefer G's option as its a little easier to understand and also visually this looks very appealing

many thanks regards
garypanic - well not some much panic now more slightly confused - learning soemthing new everyday

tried to do what I wanted and it kinda works and kinda doesn't

what i have is a make directory button
say
S://filing/qteno(space) qtename
button creates folder
example

quote numbe12345 and qtename garbage

my directory once the button as been pushed will create s//filing/12345 garbage and i can file my bits a pieces in their (I know by backslashes are the wrongway round -doggey keyboard)

and on my form i want either a subform as per fscandirselectfromtable from the attached outline

I know i need the tables etc - great
buts its variable getting the form mentioned above to open as per my filepath = any pointers on this most helpful
as the next record will be12346 and name could be Mr A Nother

regards
