Hiya,

I'm new to the forum and pretty new to Access. I'm having problems with a switchboard and wondered if anyone could help? I designed the form on my laptop which is widescreen. When I tried it on the PC, the entire right hand side of the form was missing. I was told I would have to make it smaller as it would expand to fit a larger screen but would not reduce to fit a smaller one. I did this and marked auto centre on the form properties. My problem is that the background expands to fit the laptop but all the images, labels and command buttons remain on the left hand side of the screen. Any ideas?

thats the way Access works. You develop your forms to fit in the lowest resolution any of your users may use. There are ways around this one of my colleagues has developed code to resize all his controls depending on the size of the screen. However it looks extremely blocky to me.

Thanks very much for getting back to me. I had an idea that would be the case but it's nice to have it confirmed. Thanks again.

I think you could probably make the switchboard a popup form and auto centre it from there - if this fails make your own form to cover the duties of the switchboard. The switchboard is pretty restrictive anyway.

Of course, some people don't like the look of, or like working with popup forms.

As DennisK said "develop your forms to fit in the lowest resolution any of your users may use." I always use 800 x 600, as more businesses than you'd think are stingy about updating their hardware. Then you need a good form resizer. Here's one from Jamie's Software. Go to this site and scroll down to the "Access Form Resizer" and download it, then follow the directions. I've used it before without problems, and best of all, it's FREE!
