Hi there

Does anybody know if I can create a form that will access windows address book through the database rather than opening it separately ?
Thanks in advance

You can exporrt WAB to different formats so it should be possible to set up a linked file if nothing else.

You can then use the generated table to base a form on,

I know it is possible to export directly to Outlook and to a .csv file.

but I don't think Access can work directly with the .wab files that it generates ...... don't know may be wrong. But why WAB anyway? I'd forgotten that it still existed.

Many thanks - will export as csv. Usin WAB file as all our address' are held in Microsoft Address Book and I would like to have an address option on the database.

If you mean the Outlook Address Book, you can link to it directly. You don't need to export it first.

BF1 was talking about the old Windows Address book ----- Saves it's files as .wab I don't think it works quite the same as Outlook. And I could't see a way to directly import that file extension. :)

I forgot all about that little app

Yeh I forgot about it as well. Just investigated and mine dosn't seem to work like that although the interface is similar. I can't see anyway of linking them either

What version of office/windows have you? I'm running WXP pro and Office XP.

That must be it.I don't have Exchange drivers on this machine.
I hope BF1 is still watching this thread as he may find this little discovery useful.

I didn't think anyone used WAB anymore but then again I suppose a lot of people still use what they are used too.

By the way I know it's off topic but what is your fav. convention?

Used to play bridge up untill a few years ago but lost my partner and haven't bothered since.

Suction (sometimes called Trash).

Hmmmm Not seen that one before. Could be interesting though with a good partner.

Bridge by E's huh. I have to admit that I was a social player and the game just wouldn't seem the same electronically.

Can't beat a good meal, a couple of bottles of good wine and a few rubbers.

Tend to use ACOL with Staymen and Blackwood, which is reasonably conventional over here (and doesn’t scare the dinner guests too much)

Trouble is my wife can't stand card games of any sort.(it's one of the very few differences in taste we have) So when my Bridge partner was no more I sorta didn't bother anymore.

Maybe I'll look for another partner and start playing again.

Cheers

Pete
