I have an old version of an access database (95 or 97) and a .exe interface running on a Windows 95 machine - the database cannot be modified without conversion and all processes operate via the .exe.
The strange thing is, I copied the database and .exe and other files to another computer with Windows 98 and Access 2000. The database is still unconverted and the .exe works just fine.
The problem is - the .exe file and database no longer work on the original machine. It says there was an error opening the database and then it says it cannot open the database - the exact same message it gives when the database is converted upward.
However, the database on the original machine does not seem to have been converted, as opening it in Access warns that it is not editable, being an old version.
Can anyone explain what may have happened here and how it may be rectified? I have tried to replicate the problem on the new machine (it seems to give same message if database is converted) and copied the database and everything to see if that was the problem, and STILL it can open the database. On the old machine, it just won't. Even if the .exe and db are replaced with the copied files, it still won't work. *confused*
Thanks for any suggestions.
