Access Database Design & Programming by Steven Roman, O'Reilly & Associates, Inc, $24.95. This book covers normalized table design, Access SQL and programming with DAO. There is an Access 2000 version that also includes ADO.
Microsoft Jet Database Engine Programmer’s Guide by Dan Haught and Jim Ferguson, Microsoft Press $39.95 w/CD. Be sure to get the latest version. This book is updated for each new version of Jet. Covers the complete object hierarchy, working with collections, security, optimization, and how Jet interfaces with the ODBC drivers.
Beginning Access 97 VBA Programming by Robert Smith and David Sussman, Wrox, $39.99 w/CD. One of the few books that concentrate on code rather than the graphical interface. There is also an Access 2000 version.
Access 97 Answers! Certified Tech Support by Edward Jones and Jarel M. Jones, McGrawHill, $24.99. This is an amazingly useful collection of random facts that are well enough organized to allow you to actually find help. There is an Access 2000 version out.
Access 97 Developer’s Handbook by Paul Litwin, Ken Getz, and Mike Gilbert, Sybex, $59.99 w/CD.. This is a generally useful book covering a wide range of topics.
