I don't want to get fancy with changing the colour of tab controls (a la S. Lebans), I'd just like to be able to duplicate the default gray color. Does anyone know the numeric expression to enter in the tab control's Background Color box?

Many thanks.

What tab control's background color box? If it had one then Access would default it to the same color as a CommandButton:
3-D face -2147483633 buttonface

Hi RG. It's just the regular tab control that you can put onto a form. It is grey by default and you can't change it. I'd like to know what colour it is by Windows default so that I can duplicate its colour for other controls.

I think it inherits the Windows 3D Object color.

Hi Christine,
I'm pretty sure it is the system color -2147483633.

If the workstation user has changed the default Windows color setting, wouldn't this pose a problem?

The color scheme should be left up to the user IMHO. Using the system color keeps the GUI consistant.

Yes, it certainly would Ken. However, near as I can reckon, in Control Panel you can't change the default colour of message boxes - they are always grey. I recall seeing a posting on the web (or perhaps here?) about changing Windows default stuff, but it was much farther than my limited programming knowledge allows. So, I'm content with just being able to duplicate the grey where I can.

Christine,

Looks like the message box inherits the 3D Object color as well...
