Hi,
Thanks for having these excellent forums :)
They have helped me overcome some questions in the past.

I have Access 2000 with the developer tools for distributing the Access runtime. Its been a couple years since my last big project in Access.

Recently I have gotten a pretty big project.
I don't see any reason why it can't be done with Access 2000 but I wonder if I should get more up to date?

I see Access 2003 appears to require a pretty hefty investment in the Visual Studio to get the runtime. Is this true?

I would need to purchase the upgrade for Access and then also purchase the Visual Studio?

I really have no use for Visual Studio so I am not sure what to do.

I see COMPANIES still running win3.11 & access 2.0 among other "old stuff"

Thanks for the advice.

Since I can't see any things exciting for me in the new releases of Access I will just stay right here for now.

I also look forward to digging around the forums and picking the brains of the Access experts - I am glad I found this place.

Just to add my 2 cents worth:

I would pick anything after Office 97 and stick with it for a while. The ONLY reason I draw that particular line is that Office 97 has now fallen off the edge of the support window. Office 2K has not yet done so.

Also, Office 97 had LOTS of security problems with the MDAC stuff. At least a few (but not all, certainly) have been fixed in Office 2K.

Beyond that, I think any version of Office is OK if you are happy with it. 2K is at least as good as any other.
