Which questions should I ask the client?

My Access skill level is now sufficient to build a straightforward application for a business that needs a sales database.

Before I commit myself, I will ask the client a lot of questions about what the application should be able to do. That way I will be able to give him a quote that is reasonable for me, as well for him. I also want to protect myself from getting involved in a project that is beyond my capacities.

Are there any particular questions I should get answers for? I would like to have an established programmers view on that.

All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This really is not a programmers question nut one for a system analyst or system/db architect.

If done properly and professionally, everything must be written up into a design specification document. Most programmer are to eager to write code so they skip this step.

If this really is your first time, I would recommend that you team up with someone with lots of experience as a system analyst/system architect and consultant. Otherwise you could easily end up up working for free, even losing money, on your first few projects.

another important question is to decide how to deal with your client

are you giving him unprotected source code, or are you giving him a protected mde file.

Thanks for the info.

Application is nearly finished and so far so good.
