I posted a question because i needed help. No one could help me in the forms forum. so rather than be rude and suggest you don't know how to do it. I asked a similar question in the macros forum. hoping someone who was really good in macros might spot the problem.

'i don't need to explain myself' - isn't in reference to posting a question. it is in reference to you. who keeps harrassing me over why i posted a question in more than one forum. Rather than waste your time asking me
a) what was wrong with the forms forum answers (sulky)
b) why post a question anyway

perhaps you should help other people on the forum

Just Maybe you'll either
A) give me a solution or stop being provokotive (sp?)

and i'm not getting arsy..i just need some help
If i have to post my original message in all the forums to get the answer which i really need i will thank you.

Hi

I don't think Rich was being provocative. As you know, most of the people who answer peoples problems on these forums are doing it whilst they are doing their normal job and are logged into the forum as well.

One of the difficulties with posting very similar questions in different forums is that someone may be defining and testing an "answer" to one of the posts, this may take some time. Meanwhile someone has already answered it in another forum yet the person doesn't know this at the time, this can prove really annoying as their time has been wasted. This is why there may be comments regarding multi-posting.

Sometimes you, me or anybody may not get a response as quickly as you may like, this is not necessarily due to people not knowing, its a question of finding a gap in normal work to answer it.

Another thing for the person answering, is to decide how much detail to go into. Its not nice to "patronise" people by saying answers in a "click this or click that" type of way, but if the questioners expertise is still developing, thats what they may prefer. I have answered before in a "basic" style and got a shirty reply from the questioner saying I was treating them like they knew nothing.

Postings may be answered more quickly in the afternoon when there are more people on-line (the Americans log in during our PM in the UK)

I hope this explains things a bit.

Sometimes we all do it, I have! But cols right I realise eventually someone does answer usually within a few days! Next time just post back to yourself in the same thing that brings it back to the top! The time difference like col said has a lot to do with it e.g. I posted at the back of 9 am this morning I don’t have a reply yet, but by 2mo I might, im just searching the web looking for other help or getting on with other stuff and checking! Rich is a good guy he will give you good advice, don’t get on the wrong side of him you might need a hand later remember! Chill out! I get stressed too but there is no need to bark at people who are in fact just helping!
:D
