why create two fields each for first and last name?

Hi

I am learning Access now. In dummies book, it recommend to create FIRST NAME and LAST NAME fields instead of FULL NAME in one field.

May i know the logic of it? It is beyond my understanding.

You may need to sort your names by surname and or forename, hard to do if in same field.

One more question. Shall i put company name in first name or to add another field as COMPANY NAME?

The owner can be company and individual.
