it's only an option once the system has decided to Unfurl it, and upon clicking Edit, as far as I can tell

Turns out not everyone uses the "floating reply" button. They simply right-click and use the browser popup menu to copy, no controversy.

Wait, what do you mean?

both: the floating black "reply" (appears after selecting text), as well as the big Reply button at bottom of post, they both quote the OP's name.

if I select text and right-click, I just get whatever rightclick menu my browser has, nothing to do with awf

I usually include the name in the first quote only.

It makes it so hard to understand who has been addressed, specially when a discussion grows through several pages and several days.

Agreed. Though for subsequent quotes, I also leave off the name.

Then I find myself searching the page with the same phrase to see whom comment has been replied to.

They probably didn't write anything worth reading anyway.
