Problem One:
I have attempted to create workgroups and user accounts in my db, but each time I attempt to save the information, it gives me the error - file is write protected... What I've run into is my companies security for the application is not allowing me to create my own mdw file for workgroup security and user level access parameters. I've also attempted using the workgroup administrator program that comes with Access 97, but it still will not load Access 97 from the file that I've created.

Problem Two:
Is it possible to allow more than one user access to the same table for data entry purposes, or am I required to have the table filled only one person at a time. I've read other query threads that suggest locking them? I'm not quite certain how to do this(i think it might have something to do with the workgroup security and user level access that I'm already having trouble with.)

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure about your security problem. I'd check with the admins to see why you do not have access.

Yes. You can have multiple users inputting data into Access tables at the same time. You can set the type of record locking you wish. Check the help file for more info.

Thanks for the help! The record locking options worked for allowing multiple users editing access. Are there any other ideas on Workgroup Security or User Level Access for the issue I stated in problem one? Thanks again!

You must be able to write to the registry to be able to create the security file. No way around it. You could have one of your IT people just create the workgroup and then you can add members and groups.
