Greetings Forum,

A couple of month's ago I sent out a message concerning (Write Conflict) and having pound signs in my table. I've tried to fix the problem but not successful in getting this task done. I need your help in trying to fix this issue. The problem i'm having is when you click on the command button to bring up a form and enter in notes in the notes and click a check box and click another command button to close the form. Then click a drop down menu to select another school and do the same thing a write conflict message pops up.

I'm willing to send a copy of the DB via personnel email. Please, I need your help with this one!

Thanks in advance.

Pat,

I don't have any of the records that are part of the bound recordsource of the open form(s). The only thing i have being updated is the unbound dropdown school list. Which is being updated after you make a school selection in the dropdown menu. On the property sheet under (Event) on the After Update selection, I have this process being done.

An Embedded Macro, to do a search for a record, the record is first with this where condition = "[SCHOOL NAME] = " & "'" & [Screen].[ActiveControl] & "'", then i run the RunMenuCommand Which does a Command SaveRecord.

This is done for every form that has a School Name Dropdown menu. Also the Command SaveRecord. is also down for every Notes field.

Can you help me?

I was trying to save the information that was put into the fields.

In my mind i thought you could save the changes once you put information into the notes field and also when you place a check in the check boxes.

But this information is already being save once you come out of access or the field that you are in.

I think if i was to send this information to you via private email you could get a better understanding.

ok, i just thought maybe you would take a look at the DB and determine what the problem could be.

i agree with pat. the problem is likely to be yourself

if you have a dirty record - and then try to update that record by another form, or by using code - the update will fail because of your dirty record.

often, your startup (current event) code may dirty the record without you realising. The easiest way to tell is to add record selectors to your form.

in a dirty record, the triangle changes to a pencil.

gemme-the-husky and Pat,

I've tried both of your recommendations and neither one of them work for me. I'm just so frustrated with this DB, because i can't figure out what's causing the error.

So, i'm going to recreate the DB again.

Thanks for all your help!
