I'm trying to look at Items using Asp.Net and XML. The idea is goto a selected record and allow Prev and Next Buttons.

The Asp page calls:

Code:
... Originals.aspx?Param1=10

I can get XML to accept:

Code:
[SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:if[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff] [/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]test[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]=[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2]"[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]position()=10[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2]"[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]>[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE]
[SIZE=2][SIZE=2][COLOR=black]
[/COLOR][/SIZE][/SIZE]

But not:

Code:
[SIZE=2][SIZE=2][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:if[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff] [/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]test[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]=[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2]"[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]position()=$Param1[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2]"[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]>[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE]
[SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][COLOR=black]
[/COLOR][/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE]

Its the XSL I don't understand, afterall in ASP this is a piece of cake! I can evalulate correctly:

Code:
[SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:value-of[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff] [/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]select[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]=[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2]"[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]count(ArtistOriginals/Originals)[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2]"[/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]/>
[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:text[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]>[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]?Param1=[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]</[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:text[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]>
<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:value-of[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff] [/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]select[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]=[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]"[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]position()[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]"[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]/>[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE]
[SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:value-of[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff] [/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]select[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]=[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]"[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]position()+1[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]"[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]/>
[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]<[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af][SIZE=2][COLOR=#2b91af]xsl:value-of[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff] [/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000][SIZE=2][COLOR=#ff0000]select[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]=[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]"[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]position()-1[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#000000]"[/COLOR][/SIZE][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff][SIZE=2][COLOR=#0000ff]/>
[/COLOR][/SIZE][/COLOR][/SIZE]

Which is all very well, but if you can't get to the items, you have the structure but no information. Afterall we are just talking about a number.

I have discounted:

1) putting the Next and Previous Stock ID into the underlying XML file
2) evaluating this information in XML and identifying the StockID.
