I'm new with Access 2007 (what a mess), trying to convert my Access 2000 version system to 2007 version. The older version is all macro driven, I'm now much better with VBA, also need to add more functions (tables, queries, forms, reports, and of course class modules).

How should I go about it? Your advices are appreciated.

Hi, Boyd -

Thank you for your response. Enjoy your HiTechCoach website, bookmarked for future reference. The website you provided is more of new features rather than conversion procedure.

So far I've converted my 2000 mdb version to 2007 accdb version, created a spreadsheet to log all macros used in the original form/object events, convert each to VBA one at a time, test, then rename the macro and macro file as they are converted. Ideally I should have all macro names and files renamed (unless of course those that are not used anywhere.) Hope I'm going about the right way.

Any advice or caution I should pay attention to?

Did you look at Transitioning Your Existing Access Applications to Access 2007?

About Macros:

The Macros in Access 2007/2010 have been greatly improved. You can now do embedded macros in Access 2007/2010. I have start using macros a lot more in Access 2007/2010.

Why do you feel you need to convert all your old macros to VBA code when you convert to Access 2007? Are they not working correctly after converting to 2007?
