We experienced a similar thing here. Our Lady Premier (Governor to Americans) was about to lose the election. So they rolled out footage of her crying in the middle of the floods saying a bunch of crap about how we will stand together etc.

It helped her a lot but she still lost the election.

Same will happen to the Current President. He will try and look good during the disaster but he will still lose. I would think.

Not as though I really care. I just hate socialists.

One solution would be to prohibit development in hazardous areas (within a floodplain). Unfortunately, that prohibition is politically unpalatable.

Instead of re-building (ocean front/floodplain) the government should condemn the properties at salvage value.

It would often appear that most of the US is at some time a hazardous area.

There are areas with generators running so there is power in a lot of buildings, no power in most areas that rely on the grid in New York City but also in areas north east where the storm tracked. A lot of the infrastructure of the electrical and communication grid is underground. Worst is the water and the smell, hydraulic pressure regurged a lot of waste up through sewer systems and underground access will take a lot of time.
Yes, there are looters, no huge surprise, law enforcement is more occupied with rescue and recovery at the moment, as well as people in need rather then material possessions.

Rich got fed up with the over zealous moderators here, you can't pass wind without being banned and losing your login name, that's why I have five names now all with different ip addresses. Also it's only one person answering the access queries these days, we all miss doing that.

The 'cooler is dead despite trying to revive it, all in all the site is about 20% what it was in the good old days.

Agree, look at the post count taper off. Nobody wants sappy sugar coated pc dialog, people want to mix it up. If I wanted good little boy dialog I'd go talk to my mother

The only one being babysat is Col, and that's because he throws tempers like one and can't get over things that happened in the past to him.

Come to think of it, that sounds more like a typical woman than a baby.

I also miss the old friendly banter that occurred a decade ago. Certain members just because rigid and insulting on a regular basis directly against certain other members. That seemed to drive a lot of people away more than anything else.

Vass I agree some members were directly insulting, but it was only me that gets banned for no real reason. The other member gets away with it just because he's on a retainer to answer all the access questions. I know that will be denied so don't waste time answering. And people move on naturally, not only due to other members bickering. Those of us with no life still hang around here.

I wasn't a member of the moderating team then as I had retired temporarily since my job didn't require code and wouldn't be around. I understand things could have been handled better with you and Rich when I wasn't around. Beating a dead horse with a stick isn't going to change anything that happened then. As you continue to bring up a topic from years ago, you continue to influence the decision above my head to not reinstate your previous username. I'll suggest again, let the past go. I'm admin now and I haven't seen too many non-spam posts deleted or threads locked.

Achieve what? What energy? It's easy if you are good at it.

Got everything I need, nice home, plenty of money, good holidays two or three times a year.

I gave up working as I didn't need to do it anymore, if you worked for the NHS for 37 years as I did, you would soon realise what a backstabbing corrupt organisation it is. If you don't seek retaliation after being maligned (as I was here by a high post number "expert") you will be consigned to the also-rans. Plus, you get great satisfaction watching someone being destroyed because they said something untoward about you.

I have lots of information on lots of people I have encountered one way or another.
