After about 22 years and 17,000 posts, Tony has decided to leave. He has asked me to delete all his posts and delete his profile, which myself and the mods are now in the process of doing. In order to preserve some of the popular threads, we are doing a rewrite of the first posts for threads with many replies. Otherwise, we end up deleting thousands of other members posts, which is not fair. There is a lot of work to do so it will take some time.

Anyway, I thought you guys should know because Tony was a moderator and regular member. And a friend of Pat.

And this is the last of the deletions. Any other member who wants their posts deleted will be met with a no. Their profile will be deleted and account anonymised. These requests for deletion are too disruptive, taking up a lot of time for the moderators.

Bye-bye Uncle G!
"hope you have a lot of good friends out there.."

Sorry to see you go Tony.
One of your threads from 2006 has just been resurrected. :-)

"The forum can do anything they want with it.". That includes deleting them. 😉

Jon, as the site owner, has good an sufficient reasons for his management decisions. Far be it from me, at least, to question those motives or decisions.

Losing so many big players points to some problems. I hope things get sorted out. This place was so invaluable to the start of my career. I hate to see this happening. 😭

Only two that I know of. And second possibly left because of the first and being friends?
Shame really, but also requesting the deletion all their posts, to me is a little spiteful, as there was a lot of help in those posts. :(
Now all that will be gone. :(

Definitely demanding the deletion of all their posts and profile is abusive and inappropriate. You can't do that on any other major site, at least I've never heard of it being a "right".

Where else in the world will Tony find an outlet similar to AWF for his exhuberance for A.I. ??

I'm tempted to scratch my head and wonder 'Why', but then again, it would be just like him to be low-key about it, not having made any dramatic announcement, etc.

I guess it's as simple as he was friends with Pat and she convinced him. Gee. And all because someone got upset b/c their political posts were moderated. I just don't get it. I didn't even get upset when Doc deleted one of my posts, I just figured it comes with the territory and didn't really care at all. Some people take it super personal I guess.

He posted some really interesting stuff about AI and other programming languages in projects he was working on, I hate to lose those.
@Jon what the heck, maybe you can just "not and say you did".

Convinced him of what?

Yeah, they were friends, but he was pissed at another member just before he quit. It was playing out in real time.

Hey, I have been told off by Doc once or twice. :)

I mentioned this forum about a year ago to a very well-respected Access developer and he/she stated the forum was avoided because of the contentiousness. Maybe others avoided participation for the same reason. I have had a few moments where I considered buggering off for that reason only.

It begs the question: How many "dedicated" Microsoft Access forums are left?
AccessForums.net
UtterAccess (UA)
Stack Overflow not dedicated to Access
VBA Express not dedicated to Access

We have a very good Ignore addin here. You can ignore forums, threads, & members very easily.

Here are my stats at the moment. :)

Small, seldomly used forum over on Mr Excel. Again, not 'dedicated'.

I can't really comment on the worthiness of the site for Access purposes as I will admit that I learned 99% of everything I know from utter access before I was banned years ago. Came here for the social chat aspect and to be of technical help occasionally

I dunno, something like "They mistreated me and you should leave". I don't really know, I'm just making it up as I go in the absence of information.

You're right though, seems like he was pissed off for , ironically, reasons almost the opposite of Pat's
