After about 22 years and 17,000 posts, Tony has decided to leave. He has asked me to delete all his posts and delete his profile, which myself and the mods are now in the process of doing. In order to preserve some of the popular threads, we are doing a rewrite of the first posts for threads with many replies. Otherwise, we end up deleting thousands of other members posts, which is not fair. There is a lot of work to do so it will take some time.

Anyway, I thought you guys should know because Tony was a moderator and regular member. And a friend of Pat.

And this is the last of the deletions. Any other member who wants their posts deleted will be met with a no. Their profile will be deleted and account anonymised. These requests for deletion are too disruptive, taking up a lot of time for the moderators.

Sorry to see you go Tony.
One of your threads from 2006 has just been resurrected. :-)

So why delete UG's posts at all? It was bad enough Pat's valuable technical posts were deleted. I don't know of any other tech forums that delete posts just because someone requests it. People don't own posts they voluntarily publish in forums. The forum can do anything they want with it.

"The forum can do anything they want with it.". That includes deleting them. 😉

Jon, as the site owner, has good an sufficient reasons for his management decisions. Far be it from me, at least, to question those motives or decisions.

I have no problem with asking questions. Delete as many posts as you want.
