Although I'm dutch , my name Ronald originates from the scottish Rognvaldr, which comes from ragin ( counceler) and waldan (conquerer).
That's what my nephew ( dutch as well) and also named Ron told me a long time ago. I took that for granted , but might be worthwhile to google for it one of these days. ;)

My name is Taymar, and I have no idea at all of its origins. I've Googled many times, but never found the answer.:(

The boy's name Robert \r(o)-be-rt\ is pronounced RAH-bert. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "bright fame". A favorite name for boys since the Middle Ages.

Here's the closest version on behindthename.com, which is the best source to learn the meaning/origin of a particular name.

TAMAR
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Jewish, Biblical

Other Scripts: תָמָר (Hebrew)

Pronounced: TAH-mar (English), TAY-mar (English) [key]

Means "palm tree" in Hebrew. Tamar was the daughter-in-law of Judah in the Old Testament. Also in the Old Testament, this was the name of a daughter of David.

My first name is Donna, which means "lady" in Italian. It is also the feminine form of Donald (my father), for whom I was named, which means "ruler of the world" in Gaelic.

My middle name is the standard French Canadien tribute to the virgin Mary.

Thanks. Other than the blowtorches (and no, I don't blow hot!), I could only find reference to the Taymar heliport or a line of plastic product displays.

This is from http://www.behindthename.com.

My name, Cynthia:

Latinized form of Greek Κυνθια (Kynthia) which means "woman from Kynthos". This was an epithet of the Greek moon goddess Artemis, given because Kynthos was the mountain on Delos on which she and her twin brother Apollo were born.

And Rabin :D

Come on - I wish people would quit misspelling Bob. I spell it the reverse of that.

Nope I was never Prime Minister of Isreal.

Thanks for putting me right on your name boB I will always spell write it correctly in future.

Brian

Mine (Sylvain) comes from Sylvanus, Roman god of woods (Pan in Greece). My middle name, as for every french canadian, is Joseph (from Jesus' father).
