The Meaning of Names

My first name is Richard, which derives from Germanic "Reich" (Kingdom). I am the ruler of the kingdom. Well, anyway, I am if you believe in name meanings...

Hell, in my own home, I'm no better than third in pecking order, so much for being the king. Either of the grandsons are #1 when they visit, wifey's #2, I'm below #2 - which (pardon the scatological pun) is sometimes how I feel after wifey uses my full, formal name with a stern voice.

But then, wifey ran across some names in our area that could best be described as ill-considered. The people who gave their children these names should have listened to Johnny Cash's A Boy Named Sue. (Maybe several thousand times, as punishment?) These next three names are presented as they are pronounced, and no, I'm not making them up. Put the letters together to figure out what the name reads on the birth certificate. And no, don't worry about what they mean. You'll figure that out, too.

Shi Thead - last part pronounced as though THEED

Va Gina - last part pronounced as though GEENA

As Shole - last part treats leading sh as proper English-language diphthong and the final e is not silent.

Those are urban legends.

This reminds me of a funny liscense plate I saw the other day.
It was a Ferrari ( or Maserati) from the UK with a plate : MAG1C, also pronounced as magic ;) . Or the Saab 95 serie with : SWASAAB :D

LEONARD
Gender: Masculine

Usage: English, Polish

Pronounced: LEN-ard (English), le-AW-nahrt (Polish) [key]

Means "brave lion", derived from the Germanic element leon "lion" combined with hard "brave, hardy". This was the name of a 5th-century Frankish saint who is the patron of peasants and prisoners.

Always knew I was special.

Okay peasants and prisoners how about a bit of worship to your saint

Unless he's since sold it, that Ferrari belonged to Paul Daniels the UK TV magician. If memory serves, he had the plate on a Rolls at one point.

Dear Saint, before worshipping you, we'll need to know what the J stands for :D :D

Okay here is a clue

English form of Iohannes, which was the Latin form of the Greek name Ιωαννης (Ioannes), itself derived from the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן (Yochanan) meaning "YAHWEH is gracious". This name owes its consistent popularity to two New Testament characters, both highly revered as saints. The first was John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus Christ and a victim of beheading by Herod Antipas. The second was the apostle John, also supposedly the author of the fourth Gospel and Revelation. The name has been borne by 23 popes and eight Byzantine emperors, as well as kings of England, France, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Portugal and Hungary. It was also borne by the poet John Milton and the philosopher John Locke.

I am so well connected it is almost untrue.

I have said before I should be PM
