I work at a college and have created a report that automatically retrieves the instructors name, class number, class name and the scores that instructor received on his evaluations. Right now the report is showing the questions of the evaluations on a row at the top with the numbers underneath, like this:

Code:
Instructor

                     Punctual Knowledgeable Respectful

Bio1 3.4 3.7 2.8
CH393094

Chem1
CL349750 2.4 3.8 3.7

My boss is wanting it to look like this:

Instructor
                               Bio1 Chem1
                           CH089084 CH90750

Punctual 3.4 3.2

Knowledge 2.8 3.7

Respectful 3.8 2.8

But no matter what I do I can't get it to change to that. Even though I've set up all the things to look like that I can't get it to work.

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I'm using Access 2003.

What is your report based on? a Table or a query? What is the layout of this? You may need to write a cross tab query to reformat your data.

It is based of a table that contains instructor name, course number, course name and the scores given to the instructor in several different categories. The report takes those scores and averages them to give them their total score for that class in each of the categories.

Then a crosstab query could be used to get your data in the format your moss has requested. If you can post the design diagram of your table I can try to get the query right for you.

I'm sorry. What do you mean "post the design diagram"? Do you mean the field name and data type that appear in design view? I'm afraid that this is the first time I've had to use a forum like this because all of my other projects have been fairly simple and straight forward. Please bear with me.

Thats what I meant. Its just so I can build a mini DB and see if I can get the report right for you.

Hi Jessica892

Can you post your database?

Maurice

Do you mean the table? How would I do that?

Proceed as follows:

Step 1 - do a repair / compact on your database

Step 2 - using PKZIP - zip the database

Step 3 - send it

Best regards

Maurice

I could send a mock database but due to confiditiality issues I cannot send my actual database. Would you like me to create a mock database like my current one?
