I am hoping this is a simple question to ask you; if i have the following data:

person event time
A.smith A 1.15
A.smith B 1.20
A.smith A 1.10
A.smith B 1.50
A.smith C 1.16

How can i make my query return the quickest time for each event, e.g. so I get:

person event time
A.smith A 1.10
A.smith B 1.20
A.smith C 1.16

I would of thought that i need to do something with the return value tool, but i cant assign this to just the eventcategory?

Tried the Min() function?

Col

have you any links because i think i need the max function for another question i had too?

Access help should give you what you need

you need to look at totals queries for this

although they are generically called "totals" queries, you get lots of domain aggregate functions like sum, count, max, min, average etc

You are getting this for the time average because Access store times as fractions of 24 hours. It shoulddisplay OK if you wrap your result in a format command. Try this

Format(Averagetime,"hh:nn:ss")
