Gargantuan Minds.....

Ah, that would be the case then. It goes to Jon who, at that time, wasn't answering anything about the forums.

This thread made me look back at my first posts... so funny.. I bit off way more than I could chew back then, and it shows in my posts... haha

EDIT: I in no way, think that I am a gargantuan mind!! Just wanted to take a look back!

I'm gargantuan, but only in body - not in mind. :)

And I need to work on that first part...

Ugh... Me too! I have been trying to get back into a routine, cause once I start I can keep going... But sedentariness is a hard habit to break. :(

That's weird. I could have swore I recall Pat Hartman lamenting over how lot of helpful posts were lost which I took to mean that the site as whole was damaged and vaguely something about Jon having to use a backup from a week before because the host didn't backup daily or something like that. But my memory has been wrong, though.

I believe you are correct about the backup being a few days old, but not much was lost during that period. It was the Non-Access related section that was COMPLETELY wiped out. While I'm sure some good information was lost for that short time in the help forums, that to me was a much more tragic loss because now there's no evidence to show the happy family we used to have (not that we don't appreciate the new family too! ;) ).

It seems like I remember something about that too. But I think they were able to restore the Access-related posts at least up to the week before, but the non-Access related posts, such as the Watercooler, were not recovered at all. So, I think that's what Vass is referring to when he says only the 'cooler was affected. I think I lost somewhere in the vicinity of 1,500+ posts when that happened, although I can't remember for sure. :o

Shows how much I know about Access too...

Too bad, indeed. FWIW, from my POV, the tone of WC was pretty same as long as I can remember since joining up but then again, I wasn't really paying close attention and in first few years, my attendance was sporadic.

Thanks for sharing, Vass.

The tone of the WC has been pretty much the same for a long time, but I do remember a time when it was much more friendly and enjoyable to hang out here. It's a pity it has degenerated to this. It's no surprise to me that barely anyone comes here any more. This thread and the other one have been nice and pleasant though. Reminds me of the olden days. :D

Ha! You beat me to it. I still miss the old gang sometimes, but the new gang is good too. :)

You are right about the non Access I lost loads of Excel posts, maybe as many as a dozen. :D

Vass,

On you & Miles having like 8,000 posts in the "On ..." thread alone.

(Though given the occasional resurrection we see around here, I guess people totally miss the date of posts and blissfully post their reply to long dead thread.)
At least they are looking at old posts.:)

Touché. :) Guess can't have it both ways - berating people for not searching and berating people for resurrecting old threads. Awfully inconsistent position, isn't it?

Consistency isn't always a virtue:) I am sure it is character building for the young to be berated rom time to time :D
