Combo box on a Switchboard Form

How about just using a regular form and create a switchboard with it? I have comboboxes and command buttons on it and they all work great. Just my $.02 worth

Can't add Field to existing Form

You might want to check and see if the form source is a query of the table and not the table itself. I've caught myself doing that one before. Any changes in the table fields will not show up in the field list but if you change it in the query, it will. Just a thought.

Additions to Combo box on the fly

I don't know if this will help or not. You say you don't want them to have to leave the form but what about a small popup form that will allow them to enter in the new builder and any additional info that you may want. I have a combobox for researchers involved in projects. Whenever one is...

Using Word .doc as an Access Form

I have no doubt that you could make a form in Access look like the Word Documents that they are presently using. I would suggest doing this before I would suggest importing Word Documents

    TYPE MISMATCH error in form

This has happened to me on occasion. It normally occurs when I write some new code. It will suddenly pop out of nowhere when other people start using it. You are likely correct that you haven't assigned any validation rules but Access does some of this for you. For instance, in the field...

Using Word .doc as an Access Form

You can. Go to the help files in Microsoft Word (97) and type in (or scroll to) "exporting to Word" (without the quotes ) Press Display and choose "Import a Word text file into Microsoft Access" from the Topics Found Window. I would question why they would want to do this because, in my...

=trim in label wizard driving me nuts!!

I don't know why removing the trim command helped out but the problem you are having likely lies elsewhere. The "Enter parameter value" Dialogue box shows up if for example: you have a report based on a query that requires criteria and you directly try to open up the report without specifying...

    Date field

I don't know if this will work but I would modify Jack's code so it could be used far in the future without needing updating If DatePart("yyyy", Me![DateFieldName])<> Year(Now()) Then MsgBox "You entered the wrong year! Please try again." Cancel = True End If However, if you anticipate enter...

    Please help- :(

The table tblModelSerialNum obviously has a field for this number. Make sure this is not an autonumber field as you want to assign a value to it. By setting the default value of the customer field in the frmModelSerialNum to the value of the customer field of the Main form, frmCustInf, this...

    Please help- :(

On your child form (frmModelSerialNum), open up the property sheet for the customer number field and in the Default Value field, put the following: =[Forms]![frmCustInf]![NameofCustomerNumberField] This sets the default value of the customer number field in your child form to the same customer...

    Find Record Field

I had the same problem and I solved it by assigning an autonumber to each person's record so there were no ifs, ands, or buts about which record I wanted. Pulls up the right record everytime.

    Creating a column total

Dumb Question: Are you positive that the Outstanding is the name of the dervied field that you are asking to sum. I have had it do that to me as well but it was because I had typed the name wrong and it want to know where to get its source from.

How do I get the total to stay with the last record?

That would be a little unconventional but effective nevertheless. Thanks If anyone else knows of another way I would be open to suggestions.

How do I clear a field after leaving it?

My main form that has a combobox that searches for records. When I search for one and then leave the combobox, the title I was searching for still remains in the combobox. I would like it to remove the title OnExit but I am not sure what command to use. Why do I want to do this? When I go to do...

How do I get the total to stay with the last record?

In my report footer, I have a field that totals all funding fields in the records on the report. How can I stop the Total from appearing on its own page? This happens when the last record comes close to the bottom of the page and the total gets pushed to the next page. It looks kind of funny...

Adding graphics to forms or controls

Paint Shop Pro is probably your best bet. You can take images that are not bmp's and convert them just by "saving as" a different format. As for getting rid of jagged edges when you shrink pictures, you need to use an option called 'Anti-aliasing' which essentially feathers colors together so...
