I'm using Access 2013. I'm intending to create a database with forms, reports and probably VBA. The organization I'm creating it for is using Office Pro 2010 with Access 2010. Will they have any issues running my Access 2013 file out of the box on their 2010 system?

Before i posted this i searched this forum with '2013 - 2010 compatibility' as keywords and i can see that at least one person has had a compatibility issue. I'm not going anywhere near web access databases which i understand is a new 2013 feature not available in 2010. I'm just talking about regular Access 2013 databases running on pcs installed with Office Pro 2010.

NB. I know my users won't want to start fiddling around with 2013 Access runtimes. They have to run it on vanilla Office/Access 2010. Bottom line.

Thanks

SGT

you would be better to develop in a 2010 environment if that is the end requirement.

Having said that, I use 2010 and can 'Save and Publish' to 2003 and 2000 - but then again only as an open .mdb, I cannot save as compiled .mde.

Although I have not experienced it personally, I have heard of occasions where an application developed in 2010 which will not run in 2007 - possibly because the developer has used features not available in 2007. You certainly get a warning if you have used 2010 features not available in 2003 and try to make a .mdb.

Will they have any issues running my Access 2013 file out of the box on their 2010 system?
Almost certainly

Thanks for your reply. The user is now purchasing a 2010 license for me.

Make sure you install the same 'bit' version of Access (64 or 32 bit). This needs to be the same as the office version your user is using (the 'bit' version of windows doesn't matter)
