Could some point a relative beginner in the right direction....

I want to create an Access db to run my local 8-ball pool league.

I would like to know the best way to structure the db, ultimately I would like it to -

Record the results (sample result sheet attached).
Be able to produce League Tables for several divisions.
Be able to produce Individual Players stats.

Any help gratefully accepted.

Thanks, A

First off I would create a table to house information about the players. Have a primary key and any other information that you want to include about the players.

Then create another table for games. Create a primary key with other information about the games.

Then create another table for the players of that game. Have it include a foreign key field to relate to the players table. Also have another foreign key field to relate to the games table. In essence you're creating a many-to-many relationship between the games and the players table. You would also include a field in this middle table of whether the player was the winner or the loser.

That should get you started.

Thanks for the info guys.

The site at http://www.leaguerepublic.com/pool.jsp looks quite good and I may use that this summer, but the object of the excercise is to try and learn a bit about MS Access, so I will carry on trying to create my own db.

More questions to follow I'm sure!!

Thanks again, A

apophis,

One of those sites had the table structures defined. That
should be a great resource for your db.
