Hello guys. Is there any way that you are able to create a log or a journal of the success or failure of activities performed within a database. I want to keep a log of the time a button was clicked on a form, whether the underlying queries, macros, modules and reports ran ok or failed and if possible the times at which each were run at and the duration? Is there any way of completing such a task? Thanks

You have different methods open to you.

1. Create a Table and append a record for each activity.

2. Open a Text file and "Print" an activity Log. (Search for "OPEN" and "FREEFILE")

How do I go about completing the first activity, after obviously creating the table??????

To do #1, you'd have to attach code to the appropriate event (click for buttons, within code for your macros and modules) to open your new event table, write a description of the action that occurred, whether it was success or failure, and time stamp it. You'll have to write that code using VBA.

Search this site for Audit Trail or something to that effect. There have been alot of posts regarding something similiar to this.
