I have written my very first database in Access 2003 but it tells me that it has been saved in Access 2000 Format.

My questions are:

1. Why has it done this?
2. Can I change it 2002 or 2003 format?

You *can* but AFAIK there is no compelling reason to do so except to keep people with earlier versions of Access from running your software. Tools>Database Utilities>Convert Database

Access 2003 by default saves all databases in Access 2000. This will not affect your database in any way and it's recommended to keep it this way. Nothing will come of converting it to another version except what was mentioned above.

Thanks to you both.

I will, as suggested, leave well alone, especially as the database will be used by a small group of people.

As you can see I am the perfect newbie, totally ignorant. As my head master used to say centuries ago - "Much room for improvement".

Best wishes to you all for the New Year
