I am using Access 97, and need to export a complete table (possibly filtered by a date field) as an .xls file, for later analysis.
I have seen references on the net about the 'DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet' option, but it is not available on Access 97 - at least I can't find it.
I would like this to be accomplished by a single command button on the main form, with the user needing only to specifying a date range.
Help is always appreciated.

Hi. I don't have Acc97, but I just had a thought. Can you create a macro and see if it has an Export to Excel action? If so, you can use it and then try to use the Convert Macro to VBA to see what the equivalent VBA command would be. Hope that helps...

It's a long while now since I used A97, although I put of even going to A2003 until I was almost forced to.
I am pretty sure I used to import and export spreadsheets, and csv;'s. You import csv's with docmd.transfertext. Do you have that option out of interest?

I don't have my old code on this laptop, but possibly the syntax was something different, instead of docmd.transferspreadsheet.
I vaguely remember code that invoked a tool bar action, although I never used that method.

I will try to dig out my old code and see what I did.

Thanks guys - I found it. That portion of the program is now working as desired.
Cheers,

Access97
You should be aware that if you try to convert your Access97 databases to Access2019 it will not work at all.
Access97 will convert to Access2000 and Access2000 will convert Access2010. But I am unaware if Accessd97 will convert to A2010 as I haven't tried it. What the situation is with A2013 and A2016 I do not know, as I haven't had those versions.
I can tell you for certain that Access2019 will not even attempt to import anything from A97 one. However, Access2019 will import and convert Access2000 databases.

Just to confirm, Access 2010 can both read and convert A97 files. I'm fairly certain it is the last version that can do so.

Some background on this project. It is designed to organize & store all the various programs that get loaded into the CNC machines at this small machine shop, which has numerous CNC machines. Each of which has an older IBM desktp, running WinXP, with the Access97 program front-end installed, networked to the shop server which holds the Access97 Back-End. The office has newer computers running Win10, also networked to the server.

The problem is that the Win10 computers can not run Access 97, so there is a lot of monkey-motion for them to access the data.

The goal of migration is to have an Access version that can run on the WinXP workstations at the CNC machines, as well as run on the office Win10 machines.

So, which version of Access will run on both WinXP & Win10? And no matter what, I expect there will be a lot of customization involved.

Cheers
