I'm not, by any means an expert or experienced Access developer! I will need answers to be in words of one syllable - or less.

I am creating a customer records database in Access 2000 on a m/c with Win XP loaded. This database will also need to run on 'older' versions of Access and Windows.

As long as I stay on my machine, things go well. However, when I try to convert it 'down' and then copy it across to the other machine (to work in Access Access 97) I can't seem to get the switchboard up and running - it gets a compile error.

I did try reading the help file and it seemed to suggest (in my interpretation) that I will need to rewrite the switchboard form. Is this true?

Thanks in advance

Chris

FWIW I never use the Switchboard Manager. I always make my 'switchboards' using forms and command buttons. Much more flexible, powerful and easy to modify. And it is easier to move from one version of Access to another....

Aha!

What a damned clever idea!

I shall bear that one in mind!

Thnx

Chris

p.s. - I think we're alternating between posts here between us! LOL

Not all that clever an idea but the Switchboard Manager is limited so using forms and command buttons allows you to create anything you like and use any code you like in the On Click event of a button... If you are going to develop databases then I would suggest you steer clear of the Switchboard Manager....Just my opinion...

Thanks for the help, folks.

I am a little wiser now and will take all that has been said on board.
