Access FE/SQL Server BE - Easy Question

If I add a table to the BE then obviously I need to re-link the FE. But what about if I add a field to an existing table - do I need to re-link the Access front end to the SQL Server back end?

Something I saw recently suggested that I did, but it doesn't make sense to me

Whenever you make a change to the BE table design and that change is used in your FE, I would suggest that relinking is necessary in order to get that latest design change.
It seems to me if you didn't relink, you'd never be aware of the new field. Not really important if your FE doesn't use it, but if you need the field, then relink.
I'd relink in any case.
