Access prints reports but not queries

We are using Access 2003 and printing to an HP Color Laser Jet 3600dn. Reports will print, but attempting to print the results of a query causes the following error message to print:

PCL XL error
Subsystem: KERNEL
Error: IllegalTag
Operator: OpenDataSource
Position: 2

This may be a printer or driver problem rather than an Access problem, but I don't know.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Have you tried using a different printer? Your other option would be to create a form, set it as a Datasheet and print from there.

They can print to other printers without any problem. Since my first posting, we have discovered that the problem is also occurring in Word. They can print if they use the quick print button on the toolbar, but cannot print the same document through the menu. So apparently it is not an Access issue.

Thanks for the suggestion about using the reports in datasheet mode. That is a great idea and I'm going get started on it this afternoon.

Sounds like a printer driver issue. Get them to reinstall the driver.
