Hi

Just a general query - My small access db (A2007) is ready to be used by 10 people - each will be using the database via access viewer - I haven't tested it in Access viewer yet but just wanted a heads up before I do.

is there a likelihood of any problems with macros or vba if it is used in Access viewer and should I still split the backend?

I understand splitting the backend is best for performance etc...

Any insight is more than welcomes.

Thanks

A quick google search displayed no exact matches, so I'm not sure what "Access viewer" is.

Is this basically a run-time environment to replace an install of MS Access on the end user's PCs?

Hi CBrighton - yet its run-time environment to replace an installed copy of MS Access - you can download it from the Microsoft site. IT prefer doing this - saves them money.

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=13911

Says its a snapshot viewer? Doesn't look like it actually runs or supports a complete database application.

That site says it's an alternative to the full run-time environment.

The full run-time should have more functionality and is located here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=4438

However I haven't used it.

I would advise making a test copy of the database and testing the run-time yourself to ensure it works as expected.

:edit:

To answer the question I seemed to miss, yes I would advise splitting the database and letting the users access the FE via a run-time environment.
