Access Visual Basic Help Files

access visual basic help files dont work.

Can some tell me why my visual basic help menu is not working in access 2000. This is on a XP machine. The help menu in access does work. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the visual basic help menu with no success. What it does is when u do an index search for something it will bring up the search but when u click on one of the searches it doesnt display anything on the right side, it doesnt do anything.

Yes, I too have the same problem.
I have tried repairing to no avail.
Sometimes I even get a message asking if I would like to install the files.
I put my disc in and it runs, but still no help files.

I hope someone can help us on this one.

Not sure if this will work but....

Open control panel and select Add/Remove programs.

Make sure 'Change or remove programs' is selected.

Select the Office version (or Access) you have installed and select change.

Select 'Add or Remove Features'

Click on the Access icon and select 'Run all from my computer' and then update.


It may work.

Would it hurt to try?
I had the same problem as you (ADO help not working) and it fixed it for me.

It sounds like the problem KB249065 is designed to fix.

Like Jessa (other thread) I didn't get it right first time and had to apply the workaround, careful checking of everything is required.

ya i have went through the kb249065 article, still no change, the difference is im not getting an error. when u click on something to view it doesnt show anything, it does nothing, doesnt give an error, doesnt list what is supposed to be listed or anything, i can do a search on say "ADO" it gives a listing, then u select one of them expecting to see a summary of some type in the window to the right, but nothing comes up. help, help, help,

All is good, i went in and tried opening each individual .chm file. and they all opened except for the ado one. i deleted that one and replaced it with the one from the cd, now everthing is in order as it should be, thanks for all the help.
