access web database (1 Viewer)

Is it true that if you use access as a web database (as oposed to a sql server type database) it has to open the whole access flat file each time you use the database on a asp page. Hence if you have a fairly large database of say 50meg then it will degrade the performance of your website lots. The type of application im refering to would be a busy forum on a website (a bit like this place really!!).

Your advice would be appreciated...
