AfterUpdate do I have access to the new records Primary key

I'm using a form to enter a new client. Once entered I want the system to automatically create a child record for it. I have used the AfterUpdate event to write the new child record. It's writing the new child record but it's not putting in the primary key of the parent as the link.

Do I have access to the primary key of the parent when the AfterUpdate event is triggered.?

Don't understand what you mean when you speak about "child record".
The children records should be stored in a child table. And this table should be used as subform in the main form. Access will do the rest for you.
