Anyone heard of Chris Rock?

This is a personal insult and I wonder if the new American owner of the site will delete it and issue a demerit to the poster:rolleyes:

What's a demerit

No, this is an evaluation. The constant misinterpretation and failure to comprehend the written word as evidenced by your previous post are one of the factors that led to this evaluation.

That's the same American lolgic that brought on the invasion of Iraq:rolleyes:

cool, never seen one of them round here before, how many you got?

Only one so far, but probably more by the end of the night, simply for implying that anyone driving not with just bald tyres but actually worn down to the cords is criminally negligent

What new American owner?
Did I miss the announcement?

Why do you have nothing negative to say about the (presumably British) fool who had a 5:15 slot to fill with an American comedian, and decided on someone famous for his love of that word? He's even done a bit about how much he likes to say it. Maybe the producers should have watched a bit of his act before hiring him.

I like some of Rock's work, but honestly, why didn't they pick Degeneres, Poundstone, Seinfeld, Shandling, or any of the dozens of other American comedians who don't play blue?

I remember the Janet Jackson incident, we (in the UK) couldn't see what the fuss was about, the Yanks on the forum made a huge fuss - as did most of the hypocritical USA (the worlds biggest porn producer)

Swearing before 9pm on TV isn't tollerated and should be respected by visitors to the UK who appear live on TV.

Col

Wow, talk about selective memory! My recollection is that when "Nipplegate" became such a scandal the Americans on the forum were a) at the fuss and b) :o at their countrymen for causing it.

Certainly all legacy posters come with the package... Maybe Ken Higg bought the place lock, stock, and Colin.

I've been wondering where ole Ken was. He hasn't been around lately. Maybe he's planning a return. ;)

I was wondering that as well but wasn't sure I wanted to get drawn into a pointless argument about it. After all, it's all America's fault that someone said that word on TV. Typical American blah blah blah blah. (And just one more  for good measure. :D )

I remember that also. I guess it's different when it happens on your "home turf"?

Ken has gone from the member list, I remember his last post was bitter, I think he was really hurting.

Ken just decided he'd had enough - he blamed me I think - although I never knew the actual reason. We had many PM chats about biking and the like so it was a surprise to me. We even loosly agreed to meet in London if he came over

Mind you, he did like shooting and killing innocent animals which was a bit off in my book.

Regarding Chris Rock...

He is a young, black comedian. (You knew that.) His act can be quite vulgar. (You found that out.) He has been in a few movies of minor to moderate note. For instance, Dogma - where he watches his language, and a couple of Jackie Chan movies where he is 2nd bananna (USA slang for just below the top-rated star.) Also, wasn/t that Chris Rock doing the really weird roving reporter type in The Fifth Element?

The big noise about Chris Rock using regional gossip as the basis for a joke and then making a stink when no one got it? Heck, he's not THAT popular here, either, and often because his material is so narrowly targeted that we don't get him either. But, as usual, a few folks here make faulty generalizations to say how terrible we USA types are because of Chris Rock. Well, don't put that one on all of us, bubulah. We don't all find him funny either.

That's Chris Tucker. Chris Rock is the guy who writes for Everybody hates Chris, the show about the kid growing up in the '80's in Queens...I couldn't name any movie he's been in, but he used to be on Saturday Night Live...

Agreed with the comment about them not knowing his work before they hired him...

You "inspired" me to seek out Ken's last post and, yes, he did leave on a strident note... It can get a little rough in here sometimes. Wonder what's in the water...

He was in Lethal Weapon 4, wasn't he?
