Ashes The Third Test

England 3 - Australia 0

England retain the Ashes in the correct fashion without having to rely on some raindrops... ;)

One Test match to go... going for the whitewash..

Who know's how it would have turned out if rain had not abandoned the Third Test, Australia were on top, but they forget to check the British weather, and they should have declared earlier and tried to bowl us out .... bad strategy and tactics

How embarrassed we are.

How about lettings us dam yank in on this thread, an letting me know what winning the ashes are all about???

Over 100 Years ago Australia went to England and won the Cricket Series. Called a Test when it is between us.

The Poms were so upset they burnt the stumps (Those stick that the batsman defends) and said Cricket is dead.

Those ashes were put in a tiny urn and are kept at Lords.

We get together every two years and play the test. Next time will be here.

Now if you want to know how the game is played that is a long story.

Imagine playing for 5 full days with no winner.

One day I may tell you what a Duck and a Golden Duck is. There is one more Duck, I think it is a Platinum Duck.

Now if you can explain why they call it a touch down when they never do touch the ball down we will be even.

Not to forget LBW (Leg Before Wicket) ;)

For the Yanks, the Wicket is the three sticks that protrude from the ground behind the batsman that the bowler of the ball tries to knock over, or at least knock the stumps off of them... see Burnt Ashes...

Would you also like us to describe the Off Side rule in Soccer too ;) :p

To be pedantic.

Wicket1. a set of stumps and bails;2. the pitch; or3. the dismissal of a batsman.

To correct you....

The Ashes are actually the burnt remains of the Bails, and not the Stumps... ;)

The stumps being knocked out of the ground is immaterial , a batsman is out if the bails are knocked off the stumps, that is all that is required.

I think you'll find that the Ashes has finished and England retained the Coveted Urn, unless of course you are refering to another coveted urn

We are all gentlemen here. Time to move on.

Did you know that they are going to have wrestling at the Toko Olympic games.

They should have WWF wrestling, that would be fantastic.... I used to watch that as a kid, the likes of Hulk Hogan, and the Ultimate Warrior being my fave wrestlers... showing my age now eh... :o

Or are we talking Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy, now I am really showing my age...

My first adventure was on Black And White TV.
You would see the punch and then hear the noise 2 minutes later.

Those were the good old days. Arn't you glad that those days are gone.
