Associating files to records...

i tried to search but was unable to find what i was trying to do.
Essentially i want to be able to attach pdf or word docs to a customer record. There would be multiple files too, this is going to be used for storing proposals. Is it possible to have an index of files that are stored to a customer ID?

i have another question for ya, is there a way to do the following.
I needed the previous question for old data, but now i wanna generate reports for the proposals. Is there anyway to save the reports as document and archive using the method above. and this would all be associated to a single record.

You can do that. Just create another related table that will hold the paths to each proposal. You need to decide what format to save the reports as. The most popular are snapshot and pdf.

how do i go about making it into a pdf. i have acrobat, do i just print to the distiller? im not sure what method to follow here. also, is there a way for it all be automated in your opinion? i mean without having to manually put the paths in for each proposal?
