We are a A2003 shop with about 80 programs.

Based on what I'm reading here about Access installers running when switching between A2003 and A2007 (and the lost time and aggravation), it might be best to just bite the bullet and convert all the A2003 MDBs to A2007 and just run A2007. Are there any downsides to doing this?

We aren't doing anything too fancy in Access other than a lot of ODBC both with Msft and non-Msft back end databases.

We are waiting for our infrastructure folks to give us a machine with A2007 to experiment with.

Appreciate any advice from those who have been through this.

Thanks

I have a number of Access 2000 programs running on clients with either the 2000 or 2007 runtime. Other than an occasional glitch, the 2000 programs run fine with 2007. You may find yours do as well, so you could switch the clients to 2007 and take your time upgrading the programs.

Thanks for the posts.

Rural guy: that is an excellent link!

I ran the Msft Access 2007 Migration Toolkit/Analyzer and after analyzing the tables, it came up with the attached error.

All the reports were blank. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to contact Msft or if there is a workaround ...

You're welcome and good luck with the project.

Are you saying that Access 2007 could not run your db's?

No. The link above led (eventually) to:

Msft's Access 2003 Conversion Toolkit (for migration to A2007)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...76-5D89-450A-B977-980A9841111E&displaylang=en

And something in one of my 75 MDBs caused it to error.

Decided to put them though 10 at a time and it didn't error. Never did find the one causing the error. Also, didn't get even one "issue" to address. Not sure if I'm using it correctly.

I have no experience with the tool but as Paul and I said, your mdb's should run under ac2007 without any changes.
