Auto pop textbox on 2nd form with same value as 1st form

Oh yeah :)

Here is the latest update .....

2 - EmployeeWklySchdfrm

this is linked to the employeetbl and also has a subform based on a query of the WeeklyScheduletbl the subform is called WeeklySchedule subform

this is not displaying the correct data based on the Employee Name on the EmployeeWklySchdfrm.

This is working now :)

3 - WeeklyScheduleDetailsfrm

This form opens the task/record in the subform (you have to click on the records ID) to open this form...

Issue = It opens the specified record but also cycles through exiting records ....i've tried to play with the properties to stop it from cycling but no luck....

still an issue :(

4 - WeeklyScheduleEntryfrm

this is to enter new "tasks" into the WeeklyScheduletbl

Issue = I can't get the form to open up as "add new record" mode. It opens up but allows me to cycle through existing records....i've tried to play with the properties to stop it from cycling but to no avail.

still an issue :(

Just an FYI ....

When I try to Add a new entry ... i keep on getting this error

"The Mircrosoft Jet database engine cannot find a records in the table "Employeestbl" with key matching field(s) 'fkEmpID'

..... i'm stumped

One thing, get into the habit of renaming your controls, buttons and combo boxes, to help when working with code:

ex: btnOpenAddTask

cmbEmployeeLookup

txtHourSum

it will help when you are looking through code. :) I am looking at your db now.

I'm trying ...:) I know there are a few that I haven't and I'm sorry .... I just got frustrated with adding a new task .....

Why are you doing everything unbound? You shouldn't need to, that's why you design your table structure appropriately and create the relationships the way you do. I am pretty sure that is why you are having such a hard time.

that's the only way I could get the loginfrm to auto fill those fields.....

My goal was to have the employeewklyschdfrm auto fill fields and the sub form to query records specific to the employee logged.

Sorry :o

Just wondering ....would you like me to scrap the forms that I have created and from new?

No, I am using your current forms and reworking them, I'll post what I have as a start.

I have only redone the login form, and made it open, and am working on the subform now.

Is that subform for display purposes only?

Okay ...

So with the assistance of your example from yesterday.... I was able to create the EmployeeWklySchdfrm with bound fields ... and they auto fill!

Thank you!

Second ...

I was able to create the subform as well and it onlys the data specific to the person logged in ! ...

The only issue with the subform is that the Planned Hours and Actual Hours are displaying the record ID and the hours i.e 2:25

Hey Arvin,

See this thread for an example of what might be good idea for you situations, note the checkbox that can be doubleclicked on to edit a record, and the button to add a new record.

This is nice ! .... so ...currently I'm using a DataSheet as a subform .... and this is a list box....

Yep, it would require a little work, which I have started, but am having some problems with, so I had to start over to make sure it was being done correctly I should have time later this afternoon to work on it more.

It would be great if you kept trying to, dissect my example and start over yoru queries from scratch. That is what I am having to do with a lot, but if you can learn from this, then that is fantastic, I am learning too. I'll post what I have as I progress. :)

I'm starting to see the mistakes I made ......

Question .....

In regards to the Hours issue... (currently displaying the Record ID instead of "1:00")

Since I'm using the the Hourstbl for drop down purposes ....I really don't primary key ....or do I add another column for Actual Hours?

Reason I ask this is because ...whenever I try to include the Hourstbl in query ... it duplicates the records returned from the query....

Hey Arvin, I have Jury duty today, so I won't be on, just wanted to give you a heads up. Maybe someone else can jump in and help you with your query, or you can start a new thread for just your question about your query.

I feel so stupid .....

I resolved the "Hours not displaying" issue.....I had the drop down bound to the wrong column
